MARGAO: Curtorim Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco reminded Chief Minister (CM) Pramod Sawant about the assurance that was given by former CM (late) Manohar Parrikar for the establishment of a ‘Gaming Commission’.
Reginaldo in his letter to the CM, recalled another letter he had written on April 1, 2019, where he had raised the long pending demand of appointing a gaming commissioner for overseeing and properly regulating the functioning of casinos, shifting of casinos from River Mandovi and banning the entry of Goemkars in the casinos.
“I would like to remind you that the then CM (late) Parrikar in August 2018 had assured on the floor of the house, during the then monsoon Goa Legislative Assembly session, that by December 2018, the long pending demand of appointment of a gaming commissioner for overseeing and properly regulating the functioning of casinos will be finally fulfilled,” said Reginaldo.
“He had also assured that his government would shift casinos in a phased manner from River Mandovi,”Reginaldo added.
He lamented that none of these promises have been fulfilled.
