MARGAO: Was the August 10 gram sabha of Curtorim Panchayat conclude as per the agenda or was it adjourned due to the uproar and bedlam over the controversial housing poroject?
In an interesting development, acting Curtorim Sarpanch Simon Barretto maintained that the August 10 gram sabha meeting will not be called again since it was never adjourned by him. In fact, he asserted that the next gram sabha of the panchayat will be held after three months, giving clear indications that the August 10 gram sabha was concluded on that day.
Incidentally, Simon’s latest stand assumes significance given the fact that he had told the media after the gram sabha on August 10, which had ended abruptly, that he had to adjourn the meeting following bedlam and confusion. “The August 10 gram sabha meeting was concluded and not adjourned. The next gram sabha of the panchayat is now due three months from now,” Simon told Herald.
Interestingly, Simon stated that the panchayat has not received any written or oral instructions from Curtoirm MLA Regianldo Lourenco to revoke the construction license issued to the hotel project. “I have not received any communication from the government or the local MLA on revocation of the construction license issued to the hotel,” Simon said.
