Curtorim panchayat waits for its administrator; Rachol administrator given additional charge

The government appointed administrators to 175 village panchayats and they were to take charge from June 19

MARGAO: Even after a week villagers of Curtorim are still awaiting the arrival of an administrator to take charge and start the work.

The government appointed administrators to 175 village panchayats and they were to take charge from June 19.

Speaking to Herald, few villagers expressed fear that the delay in taking over the charge could result in delaying the approval process for their files or any other works related to the betterment of the village.

Amitesh Shirvoikar, Block Development Officer, Salcete-I informed that the government has appointed Rohan Paes as the administrator who fell sick. However, now an additional charge of Curtorim panchayat has been handed over to the administrator appointed at Rachol panchayat.

It is pertinent to note that the government had appointed administrators at all the panchayats in Goa who were to take charge from June 19. While administrators to most of the village panchayats in Salcete taluka took charge, the Curtorim administrator hasn’t taken the charge yet.

Santano Rodrigues, a villager said that there is no presence of the administrator appointed by the government for the village panchayat Curtorim since June 19. “Panchayat secretary Yogesh Fatarpekar had also gone for some training for the last few days and hence there was nobody to look into the affairs of the village”, he informed.

While the Secretary has joined back to the office, the villagers are waiting to see the presence of the administrator in the panchayat for smooth functioning and their pending works resolved.

BDO said “At the moment we have given the additional charge to the administrator appointed at village panchayat Rachol. There was some problem for the few days as the panchayat secretary too had gone for training. Now, the administrator will take charge in the next two or three days of time.”
