MARGAO: Curtorim locals will have to wait more hours or a day to get relief from the power outage, despite war footing restoration works from the electricity department.

Curtorim has witnessed major damage to electricity poles.

On the other hand, electricity workers are facing a tough time due to continuous rainfall in this area for the past three days.  Several villages of Curtorim constituency had gone without power since Sunday and still, they have to wait for more days.

Speaking to Herald, Executive Engineer Alvito Fernandes said that it will take a minimum of one more day to restore the power in Curtorim and few parts of Navelim.

“Nearly five electricity poles measuring 11 meters have been damaged in the Curtorim area. Besides, 65 poles of 9 meters. On the other hand, 50 electricity poles of 9 meters have been damaged in Navelim and all need to replace or repair”, he informed. He also said that three transformers are damaged in Curtorim.

“We are facing a tough time as it rains in these areas. It is difficult to work in the rain”, he stated.

Alvito said that it will take time for the department to get the infrastructure and logistics in place.  Apparently work of power restoration in other areas of Salcete is on a war footing.
