Curtorim VP urges CM to expedite process on educational institute

PANJIM: Following the recent announcement that was made by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant that an educational institute will be set up at the erstwhile Curtorim Leprosy Hospital land instead of the proposed Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) camp, the Curtorim Panchayat on Wednesday urged the State government to expedite the process.

In view of the widespread objections from the locals, elected and former elected representatives, to the government’s plans to set up the IRB Camp at the site, Curtorim Sarpanch Milagres Rodrigues has called on the Chief Minister on behalf of the panchayat to take steps to ensure that the police barracks proposal is shelved.

Rodrigues has urged the CM to transfer the land that is presently in possession with the Goa Police Department to the State Education Department given that as per what the CM had announced, an educational institute is to come up there.
