CURTORIM: Rahul Gandhi came to Curtorim and addressed a public meeting literally at the door of Alexio Reginaldo’s office and a minute from his residence.
The “independent” local boy hop skipped and jumped from the Congress to TMC and back to Congress in less than a month, was synonymous with the grand old party. Rahul Gandhi took a dig at him by saying “There is an Independent who is roaming around here. We all know who is backing this Independent.”

“He just happened to be an MLA and he was hobnobbing with every other party. You perhaps know better than I do. So, his leaving the party has not weakened the party. In fact, his leaving the party has strengthened the party.”
Curtorkars haven’t forgotten the late-night meeting with Devendra Fadnavis BJP leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister. While he was “caught” entering and leaving a high-end hotel in Panjim, Reginaldo defended himself by saying that he turned back from the hotel lobby when he saw Devendra Fadnavis there.
The next day worried Curtorkars gathered at the main village square and express shock and anguish. They now feel that without any party, he is open to landing anywhere, including the BJP
“People talk about him being supported and backed by the BJP. The BJP has also fielded a weak candidate only to cut the votes of the AAP candidate to boost Reginaldo.”
It is an open secret that he was close to finalizing political deals to join AAP. He then had a brief sojourn with TMC after resigning from the Congress and almost assumed that the Congress, a party he ditched would welcome him with open arms. But that didn’t happen.
