MARGAO: Village panchayat of Curtorim has decided to prepare a master plan for the village taking into account long-term planning needs and requirements.
The plan will take into account developmental sectors such as agriculture, animal husbandry, infrastructure such as power, roads and water supply, tourism, education, health, town and country planning, preservation and improvement of environment and ecology.
The panchayat has asked the villagers, including those with experience and expertise, to give suggestions on the development sectors before March 30.
Deputy Sarpanch J Santano Rodrigues said the panchayat is making an earnest attempt to put a master plan for the village in place to plan future developmental activities. “Curtorim village has no master plan in place to guide the village panchayat in the development of the village”, he said.
Meanwhile, the Curtorim panchayat has asked the villagers to pay their outstanding house tax and other tax dues to the panchayat within a month.
The panchayat’s action comes in the wake of directions from panchayat auditors to collect the outstanding arrears.
In the meantime, the panchayat has urged the villagers not to dump garbage and other waste outside their compound or in public drains and not to plant trees outside their compound walls.
The panchayat has set a 15-day deadline on the people to clear the debris in front of their houses touching the public roads.
