QUEPEM: In a memorandum submitted to Quepem Deputy Collector, people have demanded that dangerous trees by the roadside be immediately cut before there is any loss of life or property.
People have expressed fears that these dangerous trees may collapse and
take someone’s life as happened in Sanguem recently when a woman was killed after a tree fell on the car she was in. They pointed out that the old trees lying by the road side from old police station to Karalli are most ominous and asked that they be cut as soon as possible.
Some of them pointed out that though they had raised up this matter vide a letter dated January 30 this year, no action has been taken as yet, thereby forcing them to submit another memorandum.
Evamgelist Da Costa from Kusman wondered whether the authorities will act only when someone loses a life due to a falling tree. Meanwhile Quepem Councillor Amol Kanekar lamented that despite taking up this issue with the council, no action has been taken as yet and said he is with the people on this issue
