MARGAO: To combat bullying and cyber bullying in schools, the Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (GSCPCR) has recommended comprehensive guidelines to the Directorate of Education (DoE) to safeguard students across the educational spectrum.
“Recognising the profound impact that bullying has on students’ well-being and academic performance, these guidelines have been meticulously crafted by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights for implementation (NCPCR) across all schools,” said GSCPCR Chairperson Peter F Borges.
“Bullying and cyber bullying pose pervasive challenges that can undermine the educational environment, contributing to a climate of fear and disrespect. These behaviours not only affect students’ mental and emotional health but also impede their ability to learn and thrive within the school community,” Borges added.
“The Commission strongly recommends the Directorate of Education to endorse and mandate the implementation of these guidelines across all educational institutions. We can significantly mitigate the effects of bullying and cyber bullying, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment” said the GSCPCR Chairperson.
An action taken report has been sought within 15 days.
The guidelines emphasise the importance of anti-bullying policies, awareness campaigns, professional development for staff and reporting and response procedures.
A strong focus is also placed on providing support for both victims and perpetrators,
