Cyclist killed in collision with scooter

MARGAO: A fatal accident in Curtorim, claimed the life of a cyclist, Yeshwant Redkar, after a collision with a scooter in front of Alfiya Mini Mart. The incident also resulted in injuries to the scooterist and the pillion rider.

Yeshwant Redkar, a resident of Rumdamol- Davorlim Housing Board, was rushed to Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim, where he succumbed to the injuries sustained in the accident, said. PSI Praful Giri.

The two-wheeler rider involved in the accident has been identified as Clifford D’Costa, a 44-year-old employee of a private company residing in Guirdolim. D’Costa collided with the cyclist while proceeding from Housing Board to Guirdolim, resulting in injuries to himself and his 19-year-old pillion rider, Clancy D’Costa.

Both the scooterist and the pillion rider are currently admitted to South Goa District Hospital for treatment.

The police have registered an offence under Sections 279, 337, and 304 A of the IPC against Clifford D’Costa. The charges pertain to driving in a rash and negligent manner, leading to the death of the cyclist. Police officials visited the accident site, conducted a panchanama, and subsequently removed the scooter and bicycle from the spot. The vehicles are now kept at Maina-Curtorim police station premises.
