Cyclone Michuang Disrupts Flights, Leaves Passengers Stranded in Goa

Airports in Goa into a hub of frustration and uncertainty as Cyclone Michuang wreaked havoc on flight schedules, causing extensive disruptions at Dabolim and Mopa airports. Nearly 20 flights in Goa grappled with delays of up to five hours, leaving over 1,000 travellers grappling with the abrupt changes in their travel plans.

The cyclone’s impact reverberated beyond Goa, with Chennai International Airport halting all arrival and departure operations until 11 pm, adding to the woes of passengers. This forced numerous individuals relying on connecting flights through Chennai and Mumbai to rearrange their international travel schedules due to the sudden cancellations.

Airlines appealed to passengers for patience, urging them to diligently check their flight statuses before heading to the airport to avoid unnecessary stress and terminal congestion. Some airlines stepped in to ease the inconvenience by offering options to reschedule travel times or dates, or even cancel bookings with full refunds.

The persistent rain and flooding in Chennai led to the cancellation of 70 flights to and from the city. Alongside delays, passengers also faced challenges with boarding procedures and baggage handling, further exacerbating the travel turmoil caused by Cyclone Michuang.
