PANJIM: Goa’s much delayed Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) 2011 has been finally notified by the Union Ministry for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) on Tuesday, said Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral.
Goa was the only State among 11 coastal States, whose CZMP, under the provisions of the CRZ Notification 2011, was neither approved nor notified until now.
Cabral said that the plan was approved by National Coastal Zone Management Authority (NCZMA) during its meeting on September 1 while the MoEF&CC issued a notification on September 6.
He said that the plan does not depict the port limits. The notification of CZMP is issued on a 1:4,000 scale and all structures, excluding the government authorised, are removed from the plan.
The 2011 plan provides for protection to local fishermen and their houses that existed before the 1991 notification.
