VASCO: Locals from Dabolim and nearby areas furious over the increased tariff on water bills confronted the PWD engineer and quizzed him about the hike when the State government talks about providing free water to the public.
Locals questioned the engineer for reasons behind increased bills citing that the government had assured to give free water.
An old lady from Chicolna said that she received a water bill of Rs 2,200 now, whereas before she was getting of Rs 150.
“Why so much hike in water tariff,” she questioned.
When questioned about the reasons behind increase in bills, a local said that they were told by the PWD engineer that there is an increase in unit price that is Rs 25 per unit.
