Dabolim youth dies; family claims murder

VASCO: Angelo Vales (19), a resident of Alto-Dabolim, succumbed while undergoing treatment at GMC, Bambolim on Tuesday morning. While Vasco police registered the case as unnatural death, they are waiting for the post-mortem report to verify whether the death is murder, as his family suspects.

According to Vasco police, Vales attended a friend’s wedding on May 12 and a party organized by the newly-wedded couple on May 13. However, after returning home, he complained of uneasiness. He was then taken to a hospital in Vasco for medical aid and brought back home.
“He was again moved to a private hospital on May 17. As his condition was not improving, he was referred to GMC for treatment. Vales died after 24 days of battling with death. The family members suspect foul play. They claim that their son has been poisoned, so we are also investigating the case as suspected murder. However, we are yet to receive the post-mortem report, after which we will get clarity,” said a police official.
