Dacoity accused two Bangladeshis handed over to Ponda police

PONDA: Ponda Police on Saturday took custody, from Bangalore police, of two Bangladeshis, Munir Kadir (38) and Milan Hasin (27), for a dacoity on the house of Babuli Gaonkar at Khandepar.
In the incident, cash, gold and a car all worth Rs 9 lakh was looted by gang of five Bangladeshis. Two days later, the stolen car was found abandoned at Costa Ground, near Margao railway station.
The accused have been remanded in police custody for four days by a JMFC at Ponda.
The Bangalore police arrested the duo two month ago following a tipoff from Delhi police who were after them for thefts in Delhi.
Thereafter, when Bangalore police rushed to the hideout, the accused tried to flee forcing the police to open fire. Two of the accused were shot in the incident, while three managed to flee.
After holding the accused for two months, the Bangalore police handed them over to Ponda police on Saturday.
On night of April 25, 2018, the gang of five Bangladeshis committed dacoity on the house of Babuli Gaonkar by threatening to him and his family.
