Hockey
Four associations in the State.
No money for development with insiders saying that many a times it is difficult to even field a team. Money from SAG not enough even to get a proper kit.
Goa Women’s Hockey Association – recognized by IHF (2008)
Association for Control of Hockey in Goa (2008)
Hockey Goa (under hockey India) 2010
Goans Hockey
Basketball
There are two associations. One – the Goa Basketball Association – was controlled for many years by C Vaz along Namy Jain and Menino D’Souza. It was at loggerheads for many years with the Association for Goan Basketball (AGB)
However, after the death of Vaz, some of the stalwarts of the AGB jumped and joined the GBA and Fr Ralin was elected its chief. Today, it is the recognized body, but the dispute is still on.
According to many former players, there is a dearth of basketball players as no development is taking place at the grassroot level. They allege that for the Lusofonia Games the team was filled under the Indian Basketball Association.

Association of Goan Basketball – Sandip and Atmaram
Table Tennis
Table tennis used to be quite a strong sport in the State with stalwarts like the present president of the association Vero Nunes, Subhash Pandit etc. giving a good account of themselves at the national level. However, as of now the situation is quite dismal.
According to Vero Nunes, who has recently been elected chief for the ninth time, the system is there, but they need an academy, with the best of the coaches and additional centres at major locations. Education and sports should be under one roof

Cricket
The Goa Cricket Association has been under the scanner right from the time it held the India-Australia one-day international when Dayanand Narvekar was the chief. The present president, Vinod Phadke once a Narvekar supporter, was also indicted in the inquiry by Justice Pendse along with Narvekar in the subsequent inquiry. However, he joined hands with perennial Narvekar baiter Dr Shekhar Salkar to dethrone his one-time mentor and become the chief. Today, Salkar is gunning for him and the SAG has issued the GCA a show cause notice asking why it has not followed the directions of the Pendse Commission.
