CANACONA: People commuting from Canacona to Margao and other parts of Goa, daily, have demanded immediate KTC shuttle services from Canacona to Margao and vice versa.
Many daily passengers complained that despite having valid regular KTC pass they have to travel standing from Margao to Canacona and vice versa to reach their respective offices in time.
“It is very difficult to teach after travelling in a crowded bus and we are demanding a shuttle services since last many years, but nothing has materialised, so far,” said Pratibha Rane, local school teacher.
“Besides the student community, more than 2000 peoples are travelling daily from different parts of Canacona taluka to Margao and other parts of Goa. But so far the KTC has failed to provide better services and shuttle services, making travelling very inconvenience for these daily commuters,” said ex-KTC Director from Kindlem, Canacona Santosh Gaonkar.
“During my tenure as a director of KTC, the numbers of buses plying between Canacona and Margao were few, but the service was much better and very expedient,” Gaonkar said.
He said that most of the KTC buses plying between Canacona and Margao stop at numerous places and sometimes they are overcrowded and break down.
“Margao to Polem (Canacona) is a long distance route. Therefore, travelling daily in a crowded bus is very difficult due to sharp narrow curves along the Karmalghat section, and that too despite having valid monthly passes,” said teachers Reshma Achraya and Karisha Kudalkar.
According to Canacona Depot in-charge Vinod Warik, the first KTC bus starts from Canacona bus stand to Margao at 5.40 am and the second at 6.20 am and most of the time second bus is overcrowded with students, teachers and office goers.
The launch of KTC bus services from Vasco to Polem, last year, brought cheers to the shipyard workers, who are commuting daily from different parts of the taluka to Vasco.
