Daily commuters left in the lurch as AC e-buses diverted to ferry Mopa Airport passengers

MARGAO: Bus commuters have complained that the diversion of the Kadamba Transport Corporation’s AC electric buses to Mopa airport has deprived them of the service on their daily routes, even though they have paid to obtain monthly passes to travel in the air-conditioned comfort of these buses.

“As daily travelers using the Kadamba electric shuttle buses, we are being totally inconvenienced ever since Mopa Airport was opened. Many electric buses have been diverted to ferry passengers from Mopa Airport to their destinations. Is this to be done at the cost of the local public who are using this fantastic service every day?” questioned Luis Da Silva.

“Recently, the monthly bus pass charges were hiked considerably. We purchase the monthly pass for the AC electric bus but what we end up travelling in is a rickety, noisy, road unworthy tin box. Isn’t this cheating the daily commuter? Why should the daily commuter pay for the comfort of the air passengers arriving in Goa.  I know many co-commuters who have stopped driving to their destinations as they had shifted to the AC electric bus, for obvious reasons,” he added. Many other passengers also have raised complaints about the lack of availability of the AC shuttle buses, which have been pressed into service due to the lack of public transport options at Mopa.
