PANJIM: There has been a slight increase in the daily COVID positivity and mortality rate, on Saturday.
472 new cases were detected on Saturday while 15 new deaths were reported by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS). Over the last two days, the number of cases per day was around 410-425 figures.
The positivity rate has now jumped to 14.4 per cent. It may be recalled that it had dropped down to 11.75 per cent. 3,278 samples were tested.
All of the 15 deaths reported took place in the last 24 hours of Saturday evening. It may be recalled that on Friday, eight deaths had been reported, of which seven had occurred between Thursday and Friday.
Of the 15 deaths reported on Saturday, 11 took place at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bambolim while four took place at the South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao.
All of the 15 deceased persons had comorbid conditions, as per the DHS.
The youngest to succumb to the infection was a 27-year-old male from Raia. All of the other 14 deceased persons were above the age of 50.
