Dam Water Levels Satisfactory, Enough for Next 2 Months: WRD Minister

Stating that the water levels in dams across the state are satisfactory, WRD minister claimed that there will be no immediate concerns regarding water scarcity for at least the next two months, particularly during the impending summer season.

The minister disclosed specific details regarding the water reserves in various dams across Goa. According to his statement, the Selaulim dam is reported to have sufficient water reserves for the next 130 days, followed by the Tillari dam with water stock available for the next 144 days. Additionally, the Anjunem dam stands at 70 days, Panchawadi dam at 117 days, and Chapoli dam with an impressive reserve for the next 450 days.

Minister Shirodkar further informed that the irrigation water supply will be halted starting from May 15, aligning with the conclusion of most crop harvesting seasons. This measure is aimed at conserving water resources effectively.

The latest data from the WRD’s Dam Water Level Monitoring System reflects the current status of dams across the state. The Selaulim dam stands at 48%, Tillari at 48%, Anjunem at 38%, Chapoli at 58%, Amthane at 37%, Panchawadi at 38%, and Gaunem at 56%.

It’s worth noting that last year, the monsoon season arrived in Goa as late as the last week of June.
