MARGAO: TCP Minister and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai today commissioned the work to desilt the “Dambab Talli” opposite the Dambab temple on the periphery of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. While expressing his happiness in fulfilling his promise to desilt it before monsoons, he assured everyone the place would be beautified shortly.
The work of desilting the talli that is used mostly to immerse Ganesh idols has been tendered for an amount of Rs. 3.42 lakhs and the removed sludge and mud will be disposed at least two kms away from the place.
The talli was superficially desilted about five years ago but this time around it will be properly desilted and Vijai asked the contractor to also clean the surroundings and make it look presentable specially the steps leading to the talli.
He revealed the owners of the small piece of land between the tali and the road wanted to use the land for community purpose and therefore said he was confident that they will give their NOC to beautify that place to make it a cosy sitting place for people.
He said the next phase would be beautification of the whole area so that it can become a recreation spot for people.
