A potentially perilous situation has emerged near the St.
Teigo Chapel in Mirya Jeraem, Chandor, where a coconut tree leaf has been
suspended on live electric wires in the middle of the road for more than two
months. Shilton Fernandes, a concerned resident of Assolda who frequently
travels along this route, has brought attention to the looming danger.
Fernandes expressed his worry, stating, “Whenever I traverse this road, I witness the precarious sight of the coconut tree leaf hanging over the live wires. The thought of it falling on any passer-by, especially two-wheeler riders or children, is alarming and could lead to serious consequences.” Despite his efforts to alert local residents, the hazardous situation persists.
Fernandes is now urging the concerned authorities to prioritize immediate action. “I have notified some locals about the potential threat, but the leaf continues to dangle perilously. It is crucial that the authorities intervene promptly to avert any untoward incidents,” he emphasized.
The residents of Chandor awaits swift action from authorities to ensure the safety of all road users and prevent any potential accidents stemming from this hazardous situation.
