A tourist vehicle was spotted flouting road safety regulations on Thursday as it travelled along the Porvorim Highway with its trunk wide open and persons precariously swinging their feet outside the trunk. The alarming sight raises questions about the reckless behaviour often exhibited by visitors in search of excitement in Goa.
Local commuters traveling from Porvorim to Panjim witnessed the tourist vehicle with its trunk open, revealing two individuals seated inside. This daring stunt not only endangers the lives of the occupants but also poses a significant risk to other commuters on the road.
Instances of tourists engaging in such dangerous driving practices have been observed in the past, with some resorting to even more perilous behaviours. Two months ago, a tourist couple permitted their children to sleep on the roof of their car at Parra Coconut Tree Road risking potential harm. While fortunate that no harm befell the children, such actions underscore the need for greater awareness of road safety among visitors to the region.
Authorities urge all tourists to adhere to traffic regulations and prioritize safety while enjoying their time in Goa. Reckless behaviour not only jeopardizes individual lives but also undermines the safety of all road users.
