CANACONA: Timely action and heroics by the crew of fire services saved an entire house at Poinguinim from being wrecked in a fire that had started in the morning of Monday.
Sources at Canacona fire station said that when they responded to a distress call of fire at a house at Panaskhande, Poinguinim, they were in a quandary as there were four LPG cylinders which were amidst the fire.
Sensing the danger in case of blast, the fire crew removed and transferred the leaking cylinders to a safe location to the relief of all present.
It is believed that the fire must have started while the inmates were cooking at the extended portion of their huge house.

“If the cylinders had to blast it could have engulfed the entire house in which case the loss would have been up to Rs 20 lakhs,” a source at the fire station Canacona.
