Gold ornaments worth Rs 9.99 lakh stolen

MARGAO: In a daring burglary, a flat at Vanelim, Sernabatim, was burgled by unknown miscreants, decamping with gold ornaments worth Rs 9.99 lakh when the residents were fast asleep in an adjoining room.
Colva police informed that Stevan Dimpal, web designer, from Andra Pradesh complained that on Thursday (Oct 17) between 1 am and 7 am, unknown accused entered his flat on the ground floor from the back door which he suspect had not been locked and ransacked two rooms and took away gold ornaments belonging to his wife and the mother-in-law. Incidentally, police said the accused did not lift away the gold ornaments of his children and silver ornaments which were kept in a cupboard, which was found unlocked.
Dimpal, who stays with his wife and two children, informed Colva police that on Wednesday Oct 16 he went to bed after finishing his work at 1 am and when he woke up he was shocked to find the cupboards in two other bed rooms ransacked, gold ornaments missing and the back door open. Police have registered offence under section 457, 380 IPC and further investigation is being conducted by PSI Tulshidas Naik.
