MARGAO: The Davorlim Dicarpale gram sabha approved a surplus budget of Rs 24.47 lakh after a cursory discussion with former sarpanch Manuel Miranda’s demand of increasing the allotment for threshing ground from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh.
While the total receipts were pegged at Rs 1.39 crore, the total expenditure was projected at Rs 1.15 crore thus giving a surplus of Rs 24.47 lakh. However, considering that the panchayat had an opening balance of Rs 93.79 lakh, the actual surplus shoots up to Rs 1.18 crore.
Major receipts are expected to come from taxes amounting to Rs 24.10 lakh of which Rs 12 lakh are expected from House Tax. Only Rs 10.25 lakh are expected by way of government grants and though the government has promised Rs 2 lakh for garbage management only Rs 1 lakh is projected in the budget.
