MARGAO: Davorlim locals on Saturday complained about the constant power cuts and delay in restoration of power to the houses in the village. The villagers gathered at the Electricity Department office and questioned the staff over the delay in restoring the power supply.
The power which cut off at 2 pm was restored at 3 am next day early morning. The electricity staff said the high tension wire passing through a thickly forested area has been causing the problems, which in turn resulting in the power cut offs.
It was noticed that the Junior Engineer for the high tension line was missing from the scene while the linemen were monitoring and repairing the 12 km long line.
A college going youth complained that the students are answering exams and have been having a tough time to prepare themselves without the power. “No one is concerned about the village problems,” he said.
A local woman said after so many hassles the people still have to pay the electricity bills without fail. The villagers have demanded permanent solution to the power problems.
