MARGAO: Mohammad Ali and Mehboob Anegudi are back to their tricks of constructing their illegal houses taking advantage of the weekend when the government departments are close but alert residents of Davorlim Dicarpale immediately complained to the panchayat which said they will act on the matter.
In May this year, the villagers while going to their fields noticed that four persons had encroached upon a storm water drain popularly called ‘oll” and were in the process if constructing plinth for their houses.
Following a complaint by villagers led by Andrew Rebello the Sarpanch Sahar Shaikh, deputy sarpanch Deepak Mangalam who is also the ward panch and panchayat secretary Uday Phaldessai went to the site and expressed shock at the work being carried out.
They called Noor Nadaf who had sold the plot to the panchayat and when he arrived on 21st May it was discovered that four people had jointly purchased 500 sq mts of land and started constructing their houses.
All of them had no permission or license from any authority and they were told to stop their work till they get the permission from the Tow and Country Planning Department. Mehboob Anegundi while disclosing that he has applied to the TCP for permission admitted that he has not received anything.
“I am just completing my walls and putting up a shed with asbestos sheet and I admit that the work is illegal as I have not got any permission or license from the panchayat or the local panch member,” he said.
The villagers then rushed to the panchayat and caught the sarpanch and secretary as they were just leaving for an inspection and Sarpanch Sahar Shaikh said that they were not aware of the work having commenced.
“Now that it is brought to my notice, I shall check with the local panchayat member and take necessary action,” she said while the Secretary Uday Phaldessai pointed out that the parties were already served stop work order earlier.
Noor Nadaf who sold the plot even though it 500 sq mts cannot be sub divided into four plots is apparently politically connected and is using his political contacts to push these illegalities through.
