MARGAO: Cana Benaulim Panchayat member Nilesh Prabhudessai while objecting to the manner in which the extraordinary gram sabha is convened on Sunday said he would boycott it and accused the sarpanch of having a hidden agenda of conducting business in unauthorised manner.
In a letter to the Sarpanch, Prabhudessai questioned the need to have an extraordinary gram sabha when as per the panchayat is supposed to have its regular gram sabha soon and further pointed out that the matter of migrants was already discussed at the special gram sabha on October 2.
He said the villagers have not been given sufficient time to prepare their suggestions and objections and hence said he was objecting to having the gram sabha. Besides he asked why clear four days notice has not been given as the notice to hold the meeting on 20th October was issued on 16th October.
Nilesh has also asked why the gram sabha notice has not been signed by the panchayat secretary but by the Sarpanch Ezlina Fernandes and why an advertisement about the same has not been published in newspapers.
As there is no sufficient notice given, he pointed out that the resolutions adopted at the extraordinary gram sabha will not be binding upon the panchayat.
