MARGAO: The Davorlim-Dicarpale panchayat body has resolved to set up a garbage treatment plant in the village within the next six-seven months in order to address the garbage management problem in the village.
Panchayat body led by Sarpanch Herculano Niasso visited the neighbouring Rumdamol village along with Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuenkar to inspect the garbage treatment plant set up by the Rumdamol panchayat.
The Davorlim-Dicarpale panchayat had faced opposition in the past due to the site for the treatment plant but they have now selected a new site which the newly elected body expects will be accepted by the villagers.
The MLA also pointed out that the Aquem-Baixo panchayat is also installing its garbage treatment plant. He urged the Davorlim-Dicarpale panchayat to initiate a door-to-door garbage collection drive like it’s done in Rumdamol and felt this would address the issue of garbage management and also reduce the amount of garbage dumped on the streets.
