MARGAO: This Spring at Layamati-Davorlim was renovated a year ago in a bid to restore the water body to its past glory. An amount of Rs five lakh was spent on the renovation and beautification of the spring for the benefit of the local Davorlim villagers.
Sadly, the spring has come in handy for motorists for washing of cars and motorcycles, giving the entire place a bad look. In fact, local residents of Davorlim have complained to the Davorlim-Dicarpale village panchayat to intervene and immediately stem the rot.
Says a local resident Anand S Sawant: “The avowed objective behind renovation and beautifying the Layamati spring was to preserve the natural water body and the surrounding environment. But it’s disgusting to note that the area has become an eye sore, defeating the very purpose of the beautification.
