Both the sarpanch and deputy sarpanch are the signatories to the no-trust motions tabled against each other by a majority of the members of the panchayat body. Incidentally, all eyes will be focussed on Panch Hemant Kambli since his name figures in the list of signatories in both the notices of no confidence motions against the sarpanch and deputy sarpanch.
The no trust motion against Sarpanch Niasso was signed by Deputy Sarpanch Magdalina Rocha, Paulo Colaco, Leela Mangalam, Hemant Kambli, Tulsidas Desai and Maunelina Fernandes. The six member group had accused Niasso for his non-cooperative attitude in implementing developmental works and for not taking the members into confidence while taking decisions.
Incidentally, the notice of no confidence motion against the deputy sarpanch was signed by Sarpanch Niasso and members Imran Mohammed, Hemant Kambli, Rajani Raikar, Terezina Raikar and Abel Santano Colaco. In the notice, the signatories alleged that the deputy Sarpanch was not taking the members into confidence.
Both the groups have called upon the Salcete Block Development Officer to call special meetings to discuss the motions.
