Day 2: 90 notices served on Moti Dongor inhabitants

MARGAO: Day two of the ongoing drive against encroachments saw officials of the Administrator of Comunidades, South descending atop Moti Dongor locality to serve the demolition notices on the inhabitants.

A total of 210 structures have been surveyed by the Comunidade Administrator’s office for having encroached on the property belonging to the local Comunidade. Till noon, a team of Comunidade officials had served around 45 notices on the inhabitants, in some cases, pasting the demolition notices on the closed doors. Around 90 notices were served on the inhabitants at the end of the day.

An official Amaro Afonso told Herald that the process will continue in the next couple of days given the magnitude of the exercise, adding that they have 15 days time to complete the entire exercise.

Comunidade Administrator Sangeeta Naik informed that the residents who have been served notices to show cause within 15 why their structures should not be demolished under the Goa Land (Prohibitions of Construction Act), 1995 for encroaching upon the land without authorization. 

“All the 252 inhabitants will be given a personal hearing before passing an order. They have been told to produce any document which authorized them to occupy the land”, she said.
