PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar resumed work on Friday. He had arrived in Goa on Thursday after three months of treatment in the United States.
The CM first visited his family deity Devki Krishna at Marcel and thereafter the Goddess Mahalaxmi Temple in Panjim. He then chaired a meeting to review the law and order situation in the State that had Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma, CM’s Secretary Krishnamurthy and Director General of Police Dr Muktesh Chander in attendance at the Secretariat, Porvorim.
Some of his cabinet colleagues Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar, Vijai Sardesai and Vinod Palyekar paid called on him.
Speaking to the media, Sardesai said the CM informed them about holding a cabinet meeting on Monday. A discussion was also held on holding the monsoon session of the State Legislative assembly from July 19.
Several visitors had lined up outside the CMO but only a few were allowed to meet the CM.
Parrikar also released a video message thanking the people for their prayers during his treatment in the USA. In the 30-second video, Parrikar assured that he will be there for the welfare and development of the State and will continue to serve the people.
Chief Secretary Sharma also moved a file for cancellation of the Cabinet Advisory Committee (CAC) that was constituted to guide the State administration in the absence of CM. “Now with the CM’s arrival, there is a full cabinet. Thus there is no need of CAC,” Sardesai, one of the three CAC members, said.
Sardesai briefed the CM about issues that emerged in the latter’s absence. Speaking about the frequent power failures, the CM said government officials will brief him and work on a solution to ensure the people do not get affected by frequent power cuts.
