CANACONA: Another strong contender for Congress ticket, Daya Pagui, said whatever decision Congress party High Command has taken will be discussed in a meeting on Monday morning and he would accordingly spell out his future course of action.
It is reliably learnt that Pagui is likely to walk in different path away from Congress and there is every possibility that he may file his nomination as an Independent candidate.
Former minister and another Congress rebel Sanjay Bandekar who recently resigned from Congress said: “It’s not wise to speak on Congress party’s decision, after I have already left it, let the ticket go to anybody, it is not my concern, and I have already faxed by resignation to Sonia Gandhi.”
Bandekar is likely to announce his support to BJP’s Ramesh Tawadkar in the next couple of days.
Congress Canacona block President Elvis Fernandes, who had criticized Congress party’s move to give Canacona constituency to NCP, welcomed decision for keeping the seat with Congress.
“The block is happy and we will wholeheartedly work for the success of Isidore Fernandes. We also thank the High Command for not giving up the Canacona seat to anyone else. At the end we got the right candidate,” said Fernandes.
