Daylight Robbery Attempt Shakes Betalbatim Residents

In a residential area of Betalbatim, two robbers  made an unsuccessful attempt to break into a secured bungalow during the broad daylight of a Sunday afternoon. This incident has instilled a sense of fear among the local residents, prompting calls for increased police patrols in the area around the clock. Some residents  have voiced frustration, viewing such brazen attempts at robbery in broad daylight as a direct challenge to Goa’s law and order.

This  unsuccessful attempt of housebreaking by two robbers  has gone viral through a video. According to Sarpanch Anthony Fernandes, the owner of this closed bungalow  is based in London and a caretaker has been hired to take care of the house. Around 12:30 pm on Sunday, two robbers jumped over the fence of the bungalow and entered the premises.

Upon viewing the footage captured by the security camera installed in her home, the homeowner observed one of the individuals wielding a crowbar and a screwdriver. She promptly contacted her caretaker for assistance. The caretaker, upon receiving the call, immediately set out for the house and simultaneously alerted the police. However, upon learning of the caretaker’s impending arrival, the two robbers fled the scene by leaping over the fence. Fortunately, the caretaker managed to capture video footage of their escape. The entire burglary attempt, from the moment the robbers attempted to breach the door lock, was documented by the camera installed at the house’s entrance. Sarpanch Anthony Fernandes revealed that the perpetrators are believed to be outsiders rather than locals. With clear facial identification from the camera footage, police  has commenced efforts to apprehend them.

The sarpanch emphasized that if such brazen attempts occur during daylight hours, one can only imagine the heightened danger the area poses at night. Fear has gripped the entire community, compounded by the fact that many residents often leave for extended vacations of fifteen to twenty days. It’s imperative for them to exercise caution. In response to these concerns, a village meeting has been scheduled. The collective demand is for the police to initiate round-the-clock patrols in the vicinity, considering the serious threat to the security of the citizens.
