MARGAO: It was an unpleasant experience for KTC shuttle passengers, mostly tourists, who complained of a “dead” air conditioner in one of the electric buses at the Margao bus stand, on Thursday.
The incident was reported at around 10.30 am, as passengers complained to the staff at the booth that the AC is not functioning properly.
A KTC staff entered the bus, which was nearly full and told a passenger to shut the window for the AC to function. However, the same failed.
Several passengers, mainly tourists, said they opened the windows as they complained of suffocation and raised COVID concerns. Only then the KTC staff went to check the AC.
GOACAN coordinator Roland Martins immediately called KTC Depot Manager Girish Gaude who intervened and arranged for an alternate bus.
“The KTC staff tried to fix the problem but in vain. However, the Depot Manager assured that the standing instructions will be complied by the controllers daily that AC must be put on before passengers board the bus at Margao,” said Roland.
He said, “The Depot Manager had assured to put the bus number and the KTC WhatsApp complaint number inside the bus so that the passengers can complain quickly and seek help.”
