MAPUSA: A nearly five metre dead white shark had washed ashore at Baga on Thursday.
The dead shark was noticed by the locals on Thursday morning, who informed the forest department and Calangute police.
Immediately, a team of Calangute police and forest department rushed to the spot and conducted a panchanama, wherein it was found that fins of the shark were chopped off and missing. The weight of the shark was approximate 3,000 kg.
The shark was later disposed off on the shore itself with help of a JCB earth mover.
Forest department collected and sent samples of the dead shark for testing to ascertain the cause of the death. The report of the same is expected in two days.
