PANJIM: The Union Ministry for Urban Development has extended the last date by which to submit the Smart City Proposal (SCP) under the fast-track competition to April 21. This will give the State government more time to submit the Panjim SCP. The earlier deadline set by the Union Ministry was April 15.
Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Commissioner Sanjit Rodrigues confirmed that the State Level high powered committee (SLHPC) has approved the revised SCP that has been already passed by the CCP.
“The High powered committee has granted its approval to the project and the CCP now intends to submit the proposal by April 20,” Rodrigues said.
The CCP on March 30 had approved the Rs 1099.94 crore SCP, with Rs 547 crore share by State and Centre, respectively, over next five years. Another Rs 396 crore is expected to be funded under PPP and Rs 88 crore under the AMRUT scheme of the Central Government.
With the State agreeing to fund CCP’s share of Rs 273.5 crore (50 percent of State share of Rs 547 crore), the Corporation has decided to bear the maintenance cost of the assets, which is estimated at Rs 67.08 crore. The government has already made a budgetary provision of Rs 80 crore in 2016-17 Budget.
