A few weeks ago, six of the 11 Karapur-Sarvan panchayat members had filed a no-confidence motion against sarpanch Divya Kharkande and deputy-sarpanch Mahesh Sawant. The discussion on the no-confidence motion was held on Monday, and nine members were present. In a rare occasion, the observer F Shetgaonkar allowed the members to vote in the secretary’s absence.
After the members wrote the minutes of the meeting and sent the same to the BDO and panchayat directory, the no-confidence motion was passed with 6-3 votes. But, the observer refused to sign the minutes stating that the secretary had a right to preside over the meeting.
