Death from suspected case of dengue creates panic in Mangueshim

Ponda: Panic prevailed at Mangueshim as villagers of Veling Priol Cuncoliem following the death of a 42 year old woman from Mangueshim in their Village Panchayat. It is suspected she died of dengue fever while undergoing treatment at GMC on Tuesday.  
After the incident Marcaim Health Doctor  Gokuldas Sawanth directed a cleanliness drive and fogging in the area where the deceased was residing. According to locals the woman was suffering from fever and was being treated but as the fever persisted she was admitted to a private Hospital in Ponda. After her condition deteriorated she was shifted to GMC but died after few days of treatment on Tuesday late night.
 The family of the decease woman too suspected and claimed this was a case of dengue. She was the only member working in a bank in Ponda. She is survived by two daughters and a husband with a temporary job. She was cremated on Wednesday at the local crematorium.
According to Local Sarpanch Laxmikant Khedekar this suspected case feared to be of dengue has taken them by surprise and they are waiting for the confirmatory report from GMC.  He said this case suspected of dengue fever has taken place despite preventive measures, fogging and awareness of cleanliness in Bagayat Plantation held in June after around 34 patient from all over Panchayat were admitted to Ponda Sub district Hospital suspected of dengue fever.
However no incident of dengue death was reported during the onset of monsoon at that time. Luckily doctors discharged all the patients since there was no positive id that came back.  But the recent unexpected isolated dengue case incident which took place on Tuesday surprised the locals. Sarpanch Laxmikanth Khedekar said once again health awareness, cleanliness drive will be held in Panchayat and Mangueshim area on Monday October 15.
