PANJIM: The State reported a total of 11 persons who lost the battle to the dreaded virus on Tuesday. The COVID-19 death toll has thus touched 256.
There were two deaths that occurred on Sunday, September 6. According to Tuesday’s Health Bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), the first case was that of a 63-year-old male from Sao Jose de Areal, admitted at South Goa District Hospital (SGDH) with co-morbid conditions; whereas the second case was that of a 45-year-old female from Navelim, who was brought dead on Sunday at SGDH and later tested positive.
DHS also another reported 9 COVID related deaths in 24 hours. On Monday, September 7, a 56-year-old Female from Ponda, who was admitted at Goa, Medical College & Hospital (GMC) with co-morbid conditions expired. Also on the same day, a 53-year-old male from Navelim, admitted at ESI hospital, passed away; and a 65-year-old male from Quepem, admitted at ESI hospital, expired with co-morbid conditions.
Further, a 47-year-old female from Bicholim; a 70 year-old male from Zuarinagar; a 60-year old Male from Chimbel and a 49-year-old male from Chorao admitted at GMC; all with co-morbid conditions expired on Tuesday, September 8. Also on the same day, a 67-year-old male from Pernem admitted at GMC passed away; and a 66-year-old male from Panjim, admitted at ESI hospital expired.
Goa also recorded 457 positive cases and 448 recoveries on Tuesday. This takes the total Confirmed Cases to 21,360 while Active Cases stand at 4,499 and Recovery count is 16,875.
A total of 307 persons opted for Home Isolation while 182 suspects are kept in hospital isolation.
The bed capacity, details of which are also shared by the department, at COVID care Centres are 545 and 1,006 in the North and South districts respectively. Of these, 207 beds are vacant in North while 518 are vacant in the South.
