Decision on Class X, XII exams on Sunday: CM

PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday said that the decision with regards to the conduct of Class X and Class XII Board examinations will be taken on May 3, apparently, the last day of the national lockdown.

While the Class X Board exams, supposed to be held from April 2, were postponed due to the COVID-19 lockdown, in case of Class XII, three subject papers, were held up.

Speaking to media persons, Sawant said that the decision will be taken on May 3, Sunday.

Earlier, Minister for Ports Michael Lobo along with representative of Diocesan Society of Education called on Chief Minister to seek clarity on conduct of SSC examination.

Lobo said that Chief Minister has informed that the decision will be taken on May 3, whether examinations will be conducted or the students would be promoted to Class XI.

“We have requested CM to give clarity as whether students will have to answer the exams or based on their internal assessment, they would be promoted to the next class,” the Minister said.

Meanwhile, the Executive Committee of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) will meet on May 4 to discuss and decide the schedule to conduct board exams.

The Board had earlier announced that the rescheduled time table for Class XII examination would be announced five days prior to the commencement of the exams, while in case of Class X the same would be 10 days in advance.

Following State government permission, the Goa Board has resumed the pending assessment work of already held Class XII board exams. The examinations, which had begun from February 28, were halted from March 23.
