PWD minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar said the decision on entry fees is now with the chief minister. “It is a finance matter and the chief minister has to take a decision. We have already sent the file to him,” he said.
Parsekar confirmed the file movement and said the decision will be taken in the larger interests of the people.
PWD on May 14 had issued a notification imposing entry fees on commercial Goan vehicles at all border check posts which was opposed by stakeholders in Goa. There was chaos when PWD started collecting entry fees on June 1 with police protection at the border check posts.
Oral instructions from the chief minister have kept collection of entry tax in abeyance.
