PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday acknowledged that the Planning and Development Authorities (PDAs) have not been performing as expected. He stated that the decision on formation of new PDAs will be taken after the internal overhauling process of the Town and Country Planning Department (TCP) is completed.
Speaking to the media, Parrikar said, “Those areas which are under the process of urbanisation are normally brought under the purview of a planning and development authority. I agree that they need to be streamlined. I also agree that so far it has not happened the way it should have, but still it is much better regulated than the other areas.”
Regarding the formation of new PDAs, he said, “As the urbanisation pressure increases there may be requirement of more areas to be brought under PDAs. We will take the decision in the next 10-15 days. Since TCP is itself undergoing a change, let that change get completed.”
