A division bench of the Bombay High Court in Goa on Thursday dismissed Hoble’s petition challenging the NGT order. NGT, while ordering demolition of the illegal structures, had held that Hoble violated various provisions of the environment laws and also directed him to pay a fine of Rs 20 lakh for destroying mangroves and for illegal land filling.
On June 8, 2016 a Division Bench of the Bombay High Court at Mumbai dismissed the petition filed by Hoble challenging the NGT order. Advocate Aires Rodrigues who had intervened in the matter had brought to the court’s notice that Hoble had obtained a stay order from the High Court in Mumbai despite the Bombay High Court at Goa having dismissed his earlier petition.
Last year Hoble had filed a petition before the Bombay High Court at Goa seeking a stay of the NGT order which was dismissed. Hoble later filed two petitions before the Supreme Court which were also dismissed as withdrawn after which he filed the review petition before the NGT claiming that his bar and restaurant existed since 1960 which was also dismissed.
Hoble’s River Lounge Bar & Restaurant was inaugurated on April 1, 2014.
