Declare Std I to IX & Std XI results on or after May 8, 2021: DoE

In a circular issued on Friday, the conduct of the internal assessment of class I to IX has been extended till April, 2021; while for class X and XII, it is March next year, in order to avoid the academic loss of the students

Panjim: To ensure there is no academic loss to students, the Directorate of Education (DoE) has asked schools to ensure that the final examination result of students of Class I to IX and Class XI are declared on or after May 8, 2021.

 In a circular issued on Friday, DoE Director Santosh Amonkar has allowed schools to conduct the final examination for class I to IX till the last week of April, 2021 while for Class XI by March end, next year. 

  The physical classes for students of Std I to IX and Std XI are shut due to COVID pandemic since mid March. However, regular classes for X and XII re-opened partially from November 21.

 Annually, the academic term for the students of class I to IX and XI end by April 30 with declaration of the results. 

 As per circular, the schools have been directed to hold the first examination from January 15, 2021 and final examination in the last week of April, next year. 

 On the other hand, for class X and XII, the internal assessment period is till end of March, 2021.

 “The rescheduling for assessment of class I to XII, has been done, to prepare the academic result by the first week of May, 2021 for all classes excluding X and XII,” the circular mentioned.

 In the circular, Amonkar stated that in view of the COVID- 19 pandemic situation, some of the schools had difficulties in online teaching due to the poor internet connectivity. He also said that some schools have done regular assessment of the students either online or offline.

 “Some of the schools may require additional time where either assessment was done partially or not done at all. Hence in order to avoid academic loss of the students, the rescheduling has been done,” Amonkar said.

  HERALD in its Friday edition had reported about the delay in conduct of State Board examination as well as final examination for the secondary and higher secondary students.

This year, the class XII exams have been proposed to be held from the last week of April 2021, as against its traditional dates in February; while the students will answer Class X exams from the third week of May, next year. SSC exams are annually held in April.
