PANJIM: The Ad-hoc District Judge-1 (FTC-1), Panjim, has ordered the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) to pay Rs 5,77,500 to the Indian Performing Right Society Limited (IPRS) towards the royalty licence fee for infringement of copyright.
The Indian Performing Right Society Limited (IPRS), a registered copyright society administering the public performance and communication to the public rights for lyrics and musical composition for authors of lyrics, music composers/directors and music companies secured a decree/final judgement against the ESG, Panjim for alleged infringement of copyright.
Ad-hoc District Judge-1 (FTC-1), Panjim, Cholu M Gauns, after hearing the counsel for IPRS stated that “They (ESG) are permanently restrained from infringing the copyright of IPRS in any musical works by holding any concerts under the umbrella of International Film festival of India (IFFI) or any other such events at Kingfisher Village in public”.
