PANJIM: DEd-qualified teachers have decided to resort to a strike near the Legislative Assembly on May 28 demanding that their issues be resolved at the earliest.
The teachers slammed the State government for failing to live up to its assurance of creating new posts.
“For the past seven years, there have been no new posts created. On one side more DEd-qualified teachers are passing out sans jobs and on the other side government schools are shutting down. We want that government create posts for us,” DEd-qualified teacher Gauri Josal said on Saturday.
The primary teachers are upset that the government has failed to live up to its assurance of creating the posts. The teachers fear that some of them will cross the age limit for appointment in government and it would be difficult for them to get a teaching job.
There are some who have taken up jobs in private firms and in the industrial sectors, they said.
