PANJIM: The Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Committee has written to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and State government demanding to defer the enforcement of the new Motor Vehicle Act.
The Transport Department is slated to implement the Central Act from May 1 wherein traffic violators will have to pay hefty penalties.
The Congress’s youth wing said the decision has created panic among the general public as it will bring misery to the common man who is already suffering from various problems and make his life more difficult.
“GPYC has strongly condemned this arbitrary decision of the State Govt and by announcing to enforce the new Motor Vehicle Act, the State Govt, particularly the BJP, has expressed its insensitivity towards Goan people. But the GPYC will oppose any move of the government to enforce the new rules in this pandemic period and will come on the streets along with common man to oppose the arbitrary decision of the government to rob common man under the pretext of enforcement of new law,” the letter states.
